Press Release Summary: LONDON, August XX 2008 - Interxion, a leading European provider of carrier-neutral data centres, and Geo, a leading provider of bespoke fibre networks, today announced.
Press Release Body: That Geo has successfully connected its network to the newly expanded Interxion London City data centre. The addition of Geo’s dedicated fibre optic network to the Interxion London City data centre’s existing portfolio of 26 carriers will give Interxion customers an even wider range of connectivity options. In addition, Geo customers will now be able to locate their mission-critical systems in one of the most desirable colocation facilities in the UK.
In April of this year Interxion added approximately 1,250 m² of equipped space to its London City data centre, one of Interxion's 23 carrier-neutral data centres located in 13 cities across 11 European countries. The data centre can provide 2kW of power per m2 with N+1 redundancy and free air-cooling as standard, as well as the latest alarm and monitoring systems. More advanced customer requirements such as 2N redundancy configurations and high power density of up to 20kW per cabinet can also be set up as needed.
Geo’s fibre network runs deep through the sewer system in London, offering greater security and eliminating potential downtime caused by upgrades and routine work. Their Geo.Metro service provides scalable 1 - 10 Gigabit Ethernet services or bespoke optical fibre networks. Geo’s UK network is the newest legacy-free national duct and optical fibre network in the country, covering 3,000km and connecting all the major commercial centres.
“The addition of Geo to our roster of connectivity partners comes at a very good time for both businesses,” said Greg McCulloch, Managing Director, Interxion UK. “Due to our location in the City, as well as our recent expansion, we are seeing increased interest in colocation space from financial, gaming and technology businesses who want highly secure ultra-fast fibre connections. Geo is extremely well equipped to meet their mission-critical requirements.”
“The Interxion City site is the only data centre in the City with space available and 13 megawatts of power on tap, specifications of particular interest to the most demanding customers,” said Chris Smedley, Chief Executive of Geo. “This is an ideal relationship for Geo as these are just the sort of customers looking for maximum security and maximum uptime fibre solutions.”
